Disabled Lifts
Changes have recently been made to UK disability laws to allow changes to access to building making it easier for disabled people enter and exit the building as easily as anybody else. These changes have called for installation of ramps and platform lifts for wheelchair users as well as stair lifts and platform lifts for staircases in building that don’t have elevators our passenger lifts.
The changes were implemented in 2007 and passed through parliament with ease is something that should have been put through years ago. In society today we must treat everyone as equals and allow people the freedom to live life the best they can without having to rely on others for help.
Although the law does not carry over to older building there will be legislation put in place the make sure any changes that are made to older building allow for better disabled access in the future which is a step forward.
