Entry from: London, United Kingdom Entry Title: “Changing of the Guard” Entry: “Every other day from September – May the Queen’s guards put on a show while they change their shift at 11:30 am. In the summer they do it every day! This is called The Changing of the Guard. Steve and I woke up early again and went straight to Buckingham Palace to get a good spot to watch. We arrived at 10:30, but the place was already packed! I have no idea how we managed to score a spot front and center, but we did. We stood around for an hour while tons of people flooded in and were instructed where to go by the police on duty. Keeping watch on the group Steve and I were in was one cheery man. He kept a huge grin on the entire time and made pleasant conversation with the people in the crowd. We both agreed that he was the happiest cop wev’e ever seen. Our waiting was soon over and the changing began. Its really not that difficult to imagine, it’s almost like a short parade. A large group of men wearing traditional red British uniforms came marching in front of the crowd while they played their instruments. They then turned and entered the palace gates. Following them was another group of men in navy uniforms marching into the palace gates as well. After that I couldn’t see much because there were so many people
