Yorkshire is located in the north of the UK, and is a very good place to visit for tourist, because it boasts many attractions of different types. Most people think of the moorlands when Yorkshire is mentioned, but there are many other attractions that are just as good if not better.
Since the moorlands are what make Yorkshire famous, many people ignore the other, even more beautiful attractions, such as the amazing museums and awesome coastline. The city of York is also quite amazing, as it sports the biggest cathedral in all of north England. On clear days you can see York
Minster five miles away, it is so tall. The city also boasts excellent dining and specialty shops if you feel like exploring.
Whitby is also another place in Yorkshire worth visiting. It is a coastal town that is home to the famous Whitby Abbey, which is very old and historical, and is definitely worth a visit.
After visiting Whitby, it is just a short trip to Robin Hood’s Bay. This quaint hillside village is built above a beautiful bay. It is so beautiful there that it would be easy to ignore the history, but walking around and exploring the rich traditions is definitely part of the package.
After Robin Hood’s Bay, if you still have the energy, take a trip to the coastal resort town of Scarborough. While not an historical town, Scarborough boasts many fun things to do with the family, as well as good restaurants. On the way out, why not pay a visit to Scarborough Castle for a little more history.
Yorkshire is a large county with tons of fun, and a lot of important history to learn about. It would not be possible to be bored on vacation in Yorkshire, as there is such a variety of different things to do and places to explore.
