It is no coincidence that Windsor in England is one of the favorite spot for tourists. There are many attractions to be seen and it is popular with young and old alike come to see Windsor Castle which is famous all over the world. It is about nine hundred years old and is the biggest castle in all of Europe with its fifteen acres. It sits on a hill atop the town of Windsor. Windsor Castle was originally used as a prison, in fact, the original moat that surrounds it has never been disturbed and it is still there. It also has a mausoleum on the grounds where Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were buried. Windsor Great Park is on the south side and has over five hundred acres of lush countryside.

Windsor Castle is one of the principal residences of Queen Elizabeth the Second. The Queen has multiple residences including the famous Buckingham Palace, Sandringham, and Balmoral. The Queen is usually here in the month of April to perform official duties. In June, there is also Garter Day and the Royal Ascot event. Officials are often invited to the castle and enter in the State Entrance.

There are countless places to stay in Windsor. From hotels to a bed and breakfast, there is something for everyone and for every budget.  However, if luxury is what you crave, then Christopher Wren’s House is famous for its sophisticated quarters that overlook the famous Thames in Windsor. It is only about fifteen miles to central London. Its history dates back to 1676. The hotel owes its name because it was originally the home of Sir Christopher Wren, designer of St. Paul’s Cathedral.
